"We are already getting hit hard, and we're gearing up for a bomb of business," he said.
Fisk is a floral designer at New Canaan Florist, Garden & Gifts located at 197 New Norwalk Road.
And it's overwhelmingly men who are the buyers. As the day speeds closer, they tend to get "stressed, crazy," Fisk's fellow floral designer Debbie Valentine said with a laugh.
Those buyers, especially the procrastinators, are worried that they will not be able to be able to buy the dozen roses they need.
"We brought in 1,000 red roses that we will easily go through," he said.
"We stock up really well so we can take the last-minute orders, the panic orders," Fisk said with a laugh. "We brought in 1,000 red roses that we will easily go through. Men tend to procrastinate, and we have figured that into our orders."
But not everyone is rose obsessed, Valentine and Fisk said.
"When you are buried in snow people want to see spring colors," he said. "I'm promoting jewel tones to customers when they call in. Jewel tones are deeper, more beautiful colors."
The colors are deep blues, raspberry and pinks, he said, and even some orange.
"When you mix them all together, it is really rich and beautiful," Fisk said.
The New Canaan shop was purchased by Doug Pippitt about two years ago, Fisk said.
By the time the last customer is served and the door is shut on Valentine's Day, Fisk said he's exhausted from not only the physical work but also from the mental challenge of creating individual orders to satisfy every customer.
