NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Lyn Evans is back.
The popular New Canaan women's boutique, which shut its doors this past June, is celebrating its grand reopening Friday, Sept. 29 -- and offering discounts until Sunday, Oct. 1.
The business, known for carrying a mixture of designers such as Samuel Dong, Ecru, Krazy Larry, XCVI, Parker Smith, AG Adriano Goldschmied and more, was founded, owned and managed by the husband-wife team of Linda and Stan Shotkus of Weston, Mass. When Linda passed away unexpectedly in spring 2016 and Stan was contending with serious health issues of his own, it seemed that there was no other choice but to shut down the business.
The Connecticut store, which had been in the area for 20 years, was just one in a network of Lynn Evans stores, most located in the Boston area suburbs that shuttered in the spring.
Within weeks of closing, Cohasset, MA businessman Charlie White, who has a long history of working for large retail corporations, decided to invest in the brand and reopen in three of the former locations: 105 Elm Street in New Canaan, 412 Washington Street in Norwell, MA and 29 Main Street in Concord, MA.
“In reopening these stores, I was inspired to maintain the brand, because literally, three generations of families are clients of Lyn Evans," said White.
"Regardless of age, lifestyle, or personal aesthetic, there always has been something for everyone who shops here. Equally important for me, I recognize how much the Shotkus family invested in the communities where their stores were located, always finding ways to give back to neighborhood institutions and charities."
Helping preserve her family’s legacy is Jenn Shotkus, Linda and Stan's daughter, who is serving as store buyer. Jenn started learning the business from her parents at the tender age of five and after graduating from college went to work for the company full-time.
“It was an incredibly sad time last spring when the decision was made to close the stores,” she said.
"I am so grateful for this second chapter. My parents were in business for almost four decades, and I'm so happy that Lyn Evans will be able to enter a fifth.”
From Friday until Sunday, customers will receive a $25 discount on purchases of $100 dollars or more. Call 203-972-3620 for more details.
