"I am excited to be able to launch this unique, full-service landscape architecture and design firm in New Canaan," said Wilson, principal at the firm and longtime town resident.

"My aim is to provide homeowners, as well as institutional and commercial clients with the kinds of high-quality and appropriate designs that are environmentally responsible, meet the clients' needs and address unique site conditions."

Homeowners looking for designs for modern outdoor amenities -- outdoor kitchens, entertainment spaces, pools, tennis courts and patios -- or commercial projects seeking landscapes that provide year-round interest, are deer-resistant and low-maintenance, can find such details through the firm.

Wilson has an extensive background in landscape architecture, having worked for established, mid-sized firms in both Fairfield and Westchester counties for over 22 years. As a former senior landscape architect and project manager at those firms, she is known within the industry for her high-level design expertise and cutomer service.

In an industry dominated by large firms, or firms owned by men, her business is a rarity -- and it allows Wilson to marry her 22 years of larger-firm expertise with client-oriented, individualized service. "There's no cookie-cutter approach here," she said.

BWLA will provide a full range of landscape architecture services, including master planning, site planning, sustainable design, planting design, wetland applications, site plan approvals, municipal application and representation, and construction documents and administration.

"Our expertise guides a project from programming and feasibility through conceptual planning, regulatory permits, construction documentation and administration and transitions into long term maintenance of the finished project," Wilson explained.

While her expertise is extensive, her specialty, as a former member of New Canaan's Inland Wetlands Commission, is guiding clients through the wetlands permit approval process. "Clients with a pond, stream or wet wooded site should definitely speak to me," she said.

Wilson offers a free one-hour consultation. For more information, call 203-984-0466 or email barbara@wilsonlandscapearchitect.com.
