Storm System Will Bring Drenching Downpours, Strong Wind Gusts: Here's Timing A storm system on track for the first day of fall will be packed with heavy rain and wind gusts between 30 and 40 miles per hour in parts of the region, according to the National Weather Service. The system, which will arrive Saturday morning, Sept. 23, and continue well into the evening,  will stem from a tropical area of low pressure off the Florida peninsula. The system will arrive from west to east early Thursday afternoon, Aug. 10, and continue to move through into the evening.
