The Fairfield County incident happened on Tuesday, June 18 in the town of New Canaan. Just after midnight, 40-year-old Carlos Manuel Fernandez was driving north on White Oak Shade Road when he reportedly accelerated through a stop sign near the intersection at Gerdes Road. DUI Crash: 34-Year-Old CT Woman Hits Guardrail, Fence, Police Say A local woman was charged with DUI after allegedly driving into a guardrail and then hitting a fence in Fairfield County. Charlotte Singer, age 34, of Westport, was arrested on Sunday, July 2 around 8:45 p.m. in Westport. According to Lt. Eric Woods, of the Westport Police, officers responded to the area of Kings Highway North and Canal Park for a one-car crash.  Upon arrival, officers located a car that crashed into a guardrail and fence near Canal Park, Woods said.
