After Two Shootings, One Fatal, Hamden Police To Increase Patrols Government officials and police in Connecticut said they are increasing patrols after two shootings over the weekend, one of which left a 27-year-old man dead. The New Haven County shootings in Hamden were "not random acts of violence," said Hamden Mayor Curt Leng and Chief of Police John Sullivan. Carjackers Scared Off By Victim's Dog Steal His Food Instead A Connecticut police department received three reports of attempted or completed car-jackings within a half-an-hour early Thursday morning.  The victims include an Uber driver, a Door Dash delivery person, and a couple of people at a park on Thursday, Oct. 22. The first such incident was reported a little after midnight, at 12:30 a.m. Police responded to the 300 block of Goodrich Street for a report of an armed robbery and attempted carjacking.
