26-Year-Old Man Shot, Killed Leaving Waterbury Courthouse

A Connecticut man was shot and killed following a court proceeding and police believe he was shot as he was leaving the courthouse.

The incident occurred in New Haven County around 11:45 a.m. Thursday, March 21 outside of 400 Grand St., in Waterbury.

According to Lt. Ryan Bessette of the Waterbury Police, the victim, a 26-year-old Waterbury man, died from his injuries at the hospital. 

Bessette said a preliminary investigation confirmed that the victim had attended court proceedings earlier in the day and it is believed that this shooting incident occurred as he was leaving the courthouse. 

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
