18 Rescued Following CT Rowing Club Accident Eighteen teens and juveniles, in addition to several others, were rescued after three rowing sculls overturned and the chase boat took on water at a Fairfield County beach. The incident occurred off Westport off Compo Beach on Long Island Sound around 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 20. According to Lt. Second Man Dies After Four Boaters Pulled From Waters Off CT Coast A second man has died after four boaters were pulled from the cold waters of the Long Island Sound on Easter morning. "We are saddened to report one additional fatality from this morning’s water rescue on the Long Island Sound," the Stamford Fire Department announced Sunday afternoon, April 17.
