The incident occurred on the Baldwin Bridge above the Connecticut River that straddles the towns of Old Saybrook in Middlesex County and Old Lyme In New London County on Monday, Nov. 27. Quick-Thinking Officers Save Area Man From Hanging Himself, Police Say A Western Mass man who was attempting to hang himself from a tree was saved by quick-thinking police officers. The incident took place in Hampden County in Springfield around 11:!5 a.m., Monday, April 25. Springfield Police Officers responded to the 800 block of Boston Road for a report of a suicidal man, said Ryan Walsh, spokesman for the Springfield Police.
