Flat, Shredded Tire Leads To Homicide Charge For CT Man In Fiery I-95 Bridge Crash
A Connecticut man has been charged with negligent homicide in connection with a fiery rollover crash last year that killed an oil tanker driver.
New London County resident Reginald Collins, age 59, of New London, turned himself in to Connecticut State Police on Wednesday, April 24, for the Friday, April 21, 2023, crash on I-95 in Groton.
According to an arrest affidavit, Collins was driving southbound on I-95 South on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge when his steering "felt funny," and the "car began to jump" on his Toyota Avalon. Collins had just purchased used tires for the vehicle.

State Police Announce Times, Locations For Labor Day Weekend DUI/Sobriety Checkpoints
As drivers gear up for the long Labor Day weekend, Connecticut State Police are increasing patrols to catch drunk, impaired, and reckless drivers.
State police said troopers throughout the state will be conducting roving DUI patrols from midnight Friday, Sept. 2, and continuing through Monday night, Sept. 5.
Troopers will also conduct two DUI/sobriety checkpoint operations over the weekend, both in New Haven County.

Three Injured, Two Critically, After Car Crashes Into Group On Front Yard Of Stamford Home
Three people were injured, two critically, after a car crash into a group of pedestrians in Stamford.
At approx. 12:51 a.m. Saturday, June 20, Stamford Police officers responded to the area of 624 Hope St. on the report of a single-vehicle crash where the vehicle was reported to have left the roadway and struck three pedestrians in the front yard.
All three of the pedestrians had to be transported to Stamford Hospital, two with critical injuries, Stamford Police said.

Danbury Woman Seriously Injured In Wrong-Way Crash
A Fairfield County woman was seriously injured when a wrong-way driver collided with her car on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Northern Westchester.
The incident occurred about 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, on the northbound Saw Mill just north of Marble Avenue, in Mount Pleasant, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police.
The wrong-way driver, identified as Anthony Rodriguez, 42 of Yonkers, traveled along Grant Street in Pleasantville and then turned left to proceed south on the Saw Mill, O'Leary said.
