Fire At Connecticut Home Causes 'Significant' Damage Multiple fire crews worked to extinguish a large fire that significantly damaged an unoccupied Fairfield County home. Authorities received a report of heavy smoke and a possible large open burn at a home in Stamford at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, according to the Stamford Fire Department. The fire was reported in the area of 579 Erskine Road. Apartment Fire Breaks Out In Connecticut Firefighters from Fairfield County battled an apartment fire after receiving a report of an explosion and blaze that caused extensive damage to surrounding apartments.  The blaze broke out Sunday, March 28, in the early evening on Glenbrook Road in Stamford, said Stamford Fire Captain Philip Hayes. On arrival, firefighters found fire on the fourth floor of the complex coming from a single apartment, Hayes said.
