CT Couple Working To Help Kids In Community Receives Donation On Ellen Show
A Fairfield County husband and wife who are working to help support children's education in their community received a major donation from The Ellen Show. Tremain and Fritzsa Gilmore appeared on the show with guest hosts Tiffany Haddish and Stephen "tWitch" Boss in April. During the show, the Gilmores shared their experience co-directing a non-profit called "EJ’s H.E.A.R.T," which they named after their son who died of a sudden illness at the age of 4 in 2016. 54 Connecticut High School Students Receive $324K In College Scholarships
More than 50 Connecticut students have each received thousands of dollars in scholarships after participating in a college preparation program. The ECMC Scholars Program has awarded a total of $324,000 in scholarships to 54 students eight Connecticut high schools, according to a news release from the organization. The Scholars Program is a two-year mentoring program that helps prepare students for college. Each of the 54 students is set to receive $6,000 in scholarship funds. These Litchfield County HS Students Named 2021 National Merit Semifinalists
Some of Litchfield County's best and brightest students were among those chosen as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program, which celebrates the academic achievements of high schoolers. This week, 16,000 high school seniors were chosen from around the country as semifinalists, who are vying for 7,600 scholarships totaling more than $30 million that will be announced in the spring.
