CT's First Adult-Use Recreational Marijuana Sales To Begin In January At These Dispensaries
The first recreational-use, hybrid marijuana dispensaries are set to open in Connecticut in January. The state Department of Consumer Protection said on Friday, Dec. 9, that eight licensed hybrid retailers will be allowed to open their doors at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2023, depending on local zoning hours. “I am proud of the hard work our team has done to meet the goal of opening adult-use sales in a safe, well-regulated market,” said DCP Commissioner Michelle Seagull. CT Lawmakers Move To Legalize Recreational Marijuana, With Prodding By Lamont
Connecticut may see if the grass really is greener on the other side as lawmakers push to legalize recreational marijuana. This week, state lawmakers will return to the Capitol in Hartford for a special session to debate the merits of legalizing marijuana for adults over the age of 21. The Special Session begins on Wednesday, June 16. The bill had previously passed in the Senate with a 19-17 vote, though the Senate will have to revote now that it has gone into a special session. Recreational Marijuana Could Raise $1 Billion For Connecticut
Connecticut could collect nearly $1 billion in taxes over five years if the state were to legalize recreational marijuana, according to a new University of Connecticut report. A study by UConn’s Center for Economic Analysis estimated that in five years of recreational sales Connecticut could collect anywhere from $784 million to $952 million in new taxes, according to the Hartford Courant. As Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont announced a date change for the state's presidential primary in response to health concerns regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, a new poll shows Democratic candidate Joe Biden with a comfortable lead in the Nutmeg State.
