The incident took place in Danbury around 5:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10 at the Stop & Shop on Newtown Road. 13 Residents Displaced After Danbury Fire Thirteen people have been displaced following a fire at a two-and-half-story residential building in Danbury. Firefighters responded to the fire just after 10:30 p.m., Monday, May 15 after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire on Main Street, said Capt. Kevin Lunnie, of the Danbury Fire Department. The first arriving units found heavy fire conditions in the rear of the building. Separate Three-Alarm Fires Break Out At Residences In Fairfield County Town Firefighters in one Fairfield County town were kept busy over a 12-hour period with a pair of three-alarm fires. Roadway Reopens After Large Protest This story has been updated. A stretch of I-84 has reopened after hundreds protesting police-related deaths entered the highway. The closure, in both directions, was between exits 4 and 5 in Danbury on Wednesday, June 3 and lasted about an hour, starting just before 2:30 p.m. The protest began on Main Street early in the afternoon with more than 1,000 people. A smaller amount, but still in the hundreds, then proceeded to the interstate. Other protests are planned for this afternoon in Fairfield County in New Canaan and Stamford.
