2 Cases Of Potentially Fatal Powassan Virus Reported In Litchfield County Four Connecticut residents have tested positive for the Powassan virus infection, the first to be detected in the state this year.  The virus is a sometimes fatal tick-borne infection that attacks a person's central nervous system, said officials with the Connecticut of Public Health (DPH).
