A third beluga whale from a Canadian amusement park has died at Connecticut's Mystic Aquarium after suffering from an incurable condition. The death of beloved beluga whale Kharabali was announced by New London County's Mystic Aquarium on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Four kittens were rescued in Connecticut after they were found abandoned behind a dumpster in the freezing cold. Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control reported receiving the call on the night of Tuesday, Dec. 20, after kittens were found locked in a crate in New London County while it was 34 degrees outside. Authorities in Connecticut rescued a moose after the animal became trapped on a fence. Wardens responded to a report of a moose stuck on a fence in the Litchfield County town of Barkhamsted at about midnight on Saturday, Oct. 1, according to Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police. Police in Fairfield County are investigating after a severed deer head was left in a town official’s driveway. State officials in Connecticut have taken custody of eight dogs in New Haven County that were part of an alleged multi-state dogfighting ring, authorities announced. The Connecticut Department of Agriculture was granted permanent custody by a judge of eight dogs that were seized in Meriden following an investigation into the alleged dogfighting ring. A man has been accused of keeping a sloth and a wallaby in unsafe and unsatisfactory conditions in his New York home. A large number of goats have been seized by the Connecticut Department of Agriculture from a Fairfield County farm after receiving a complaint about injured goats and general care issues. A man who put a state police K-9 in a headlock in order to try and escape after taking a vehicle without permission was nabbed by police. Joseph McCormack, 29, of Ashford in Windham County, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, after Connecticut State Police responded to a home in Stafford on a complaint that a vehicle had been taken without permission.
