Officer Jumps Guardrail To Avoid Alleged Drunk Driver Police were caught up between two allegedly drunk drivers on Route 9 Sunday, Oct. 11, as one drove the wrong way down the highway and the other almost ran over a state trooper. Connecticut State Police Hartford barracks received calls on Sunday around 4 a.m. about a driver headed north in southbound lanes near the Cromwell/Berlin Exit 22, police said. Police found their suspect when the driver was allegedly barreling toward officers at a high rate of speed. Officers were able to get the vehicle to stop without incident, police said.
