A crash between a car and a tractor-trailer on I-91 in Connecticut left a 53-year-old woman dead.

The collision occurred between a 2015 Nissan Rouge and a tractor-trailer on the northbound side near Exit 29A around 2:40 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 9, in Hartford.

According to Connecticut State Police, the Rogue was driving in front of the tractor-trailer when for an unknown reason it rapidly decelerated and the tractor-trailer ran into the back of the Nissan.

The right rear passenger in the Rouge, identified as Massachusetts resident Paula Garcia, of Easthampton in Hampshire County, suffered injuries not compatible with life and was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

This case remains under investigation. Any witness is asked to contact Trooper Michael Dean at 860-534-1098 or through email at michael.dean@ct.gov

In addition, if you have a vehicle equipped with a dashcam, and you were driving through the area at the time of the collision, you are also asked to contact Dean.
