Greenwich Readies for Heavy Snow

With the National Weather Service predicting high winds and possible whiteout conditions Sunday, town officials are urging residents to stay inside and box up gifts. Snow accumulation could reach about 16 inches.

The Greenwich emergency disaster phone number is (866) 245-4260. This number is only in effect during emergencies.

In case of power outages, the Department of Health said residents should conserve water and keep candles, flashlights, a battery powered radio and extra batteries handy. To report an emergency, dial 911. If you must travel between Sunday and Monday, be sure to have an emergency survival kit in your vehicles.

The town's two emergency shelters, Western Greenwich Civic Center and Eastern Greenwich Civic Center will not be open until a snow emergency is declared by the First Selectman Peter Tesei.
