The incident took around 7 a.m., Monday, April 26, in New Haven County when the two people ran up to the Derby officer's police cruiser as he was sitting at a traffic light, said State Police Trooper Joe Dorelus. Citizen's Police Academy Applications Being Accepted In Greenwich For those interested in what it takes to be a police officer, or to just learn more about your local department, the Greenwich Police Department is hosting its Spring 2018 Citizen's Police Academy. The six-week program begins April 16 and meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the police department. One Saturday class will also be held on May 5 from 9 a.m. to noon.
