CT Police Officer Arrested For 'Slapping' Prisoner In Face While In Hospital, Cops Say A Connecticut police officer was charged with breach of peace after he allegedly slapped a prisoner who was handcuffed to a hospital bed. Hartford Police Officer Marcello Confeiteiro was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 28, and released on a promise to appear.  According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert, Confeiteiro was guarding a prisoner on Thursday, July 18, at an area hospital when the prisoner -- who at the time had one arm handcuffed to a hospital bed -- assaulted him by punching and spitting in his face. The investigation will look into an incident that happened in New Haven County on Tuesday, Oct. 31 around 3:45 a.m., when Wolcott Police officers responded to a home on Tyrell Drive where a man was suffering from a mental health crisis. The incident took around 7 a.m., Monday, April 26, in New Haven County when the two people ran up to the Derby officer's police cruiser as he was sitting at a traffic light, said State Police Trooper Joe Dorelus. The officer got out of his vehicle to see what was wrong when one of the people who approached the vehicle pulled out a gun and fired shots at a passing vehicle, Dorelus said. Citizen's Police Academy Applications Being Accepted In Greenwich For those interested in what it takes to be a police officer, or to just learn more about your local department, the Greenwich Police Department is hosting its Spring 2018 Citizen's Police Academy. The six-week program begins April 16 and meets twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the police department. One Saturday class will also be held on May 5 from 9 a.m. to noon.
