Miss Connecticut Falls Short As First Runner Up In Miss America Competition
Miss Connecticut Bridget Oei fell short by to Miss New York in Sunday night's Miss America competition The 22-year-old Irish step dancer from Hebron -- named among the eight contestants to watch by Cosmopolitan -- was first runner up in the 2019 contest. Miss New York Nia Franklin was crowned Miss America. Oei is ranked the fifth best Irish dancer in the world and graduated from UConn with a degree in environmental chemistry. This was the first year that the contest at Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall that took place without a swimsuit competition.

Ollie Contests UConn 'Just Cause' Firing, Says He Will 'Defend My Honor'
Kevin Ollie, who was fired as men’s basketball coach at the University of Connecticut, is contesting the university's decision was made with "just cause" and said he will "work vigorously to defend my honor." UConn said in the fall it had hired a law firm and was conducting an internal investigation after receiving allegations about violations that were not specified.
