The Tuesday evening commute was a crawl for many in the area after a day filled with showers, heavy rain and flooding. Stretches of four of the most traveled parkways in the area were closed late Tuesday afternoon due to flooding and a crash on northbound I-684 blocked two lanes for about an hour. The I-684 crash was northbound at Route 35 (Exit 6) in Katonah with stop-and-go delays to Route 172 (Exit 4) through the late afternoon. There were stop-and-go delays on a stretch of Route 7 in Fairfield County early Sunday after a crash involving a motorcycle. The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. on northbound Route 7 near Route 202/Federal Road in Brookfield. The extent of the motorcyclist's injuries were not immediately released. Crews worked quickly to knock down the flames of the fire, which sparked in the engine of a car and fully engulfed it at approximately 1:30 p.m., Deputy Fire Chief Stephen Shay said. The fire was swiftly put out and the driver was able to get away from the blaze without suffering any injuries. The front end of the vehicle was destroyed.
