Two American women suffered injuries in a rare Bahamas shark attack. The tourists were swimming in Bimini Bay, a popular resort, when the incident happened early Friday evening, Feb. 7, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force. A shark sighting kept swimmers out of the water at three New York beaches. The sighting was reported on Long Island at Nickerson Beach in Nassau County. As a precaution, the town of Hempstead also closed Lido Beach and Malibu Beach for swimmers for a brief period early Saturday afternoon, Aug. 3. Northern Westchester resident Amy Bridget (nee Cleary) Dillane, a resident of Pleasantville, died on Sunday, Dec. 10 at the age of 48 following an eight-year battle with cancer, according to her obituary. Police and dive teams are searching for a swimmer who was reported missing at a state park in Fairfield County. The effort to find the person began just before 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 14, at Pierrepont State Park in Ridgefield, after the Ridgefield Police Department received a call reporting they could not find the person they were swimming with. Emergency responders rescued a woman who was in distress while swimming in the Long Island Sound. The incident happened early Sunday morning, July 18 in Suffolk County, off Shoreham Beach in Shoreham. A woman in her 70s was found dead in a pool after family members didn't hear from her for several hours. The unidentified Fairfield County woman was found at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, June 6, by the woman's son when he went to the home on Jones Hill Road in Monroe. According to Capt.
