Westport Man Charged With Assault For Allegedly Knocking Over Country Club Employee, Laughing
A Fairfield County man was charged with alleged assault after he reportedly knocked over a country club employee and then laughed.
Walter Francis, age 58, of Westport, was arrested on Tuesday, July 23, for the Monday, June 3 incident at the Birchwood County Club in Westport.
According to Lt. Eric Woods of the Westport Police, an investigation into the assault began after the employee contacted police and said while working, they were pushed to the ground while crouched down stacking menus.
The victim told police they were not injured but felt threatened and scared by Francis, Woods said.

Weston 20-Year-Old Accused Of Stealing Wallet From Westport YMCA, Using Credit Cards
A Fairfield County man was charged with larceny after allegedly stealing a wallet from a gym and using the credit cards inside.
Massimo Zhong, 20, of Weston, was arrested on Monday, July 8, for the June incident at the Westport/Weston YMCA.
According to Lt. Eric Woods of the Westport Police, officers started an investigation after the theft was reported, and they found that the credit cards were used in Norwalk shortly after being stolen.

Teen Suspect Nabbed In Westport Threatening Fliers Case
A teenager who posted fliers with threatening messages in Westport turned himself in after police identified him with surveillance footage, police said.
Max Bernegger of Westport, 18, was positively identified by police, who had been investigating the reported fliers since Monday, Sept. 27, using surveillance footage, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The fliers read "Kill Trump," "Fight the White," and "Once we win we're coming to Westport," according to police.
