Driver Was On Drugs During Fatal Crash That Killed Fairfield County Mother, 2 Kids: Police
Authorities said a Connecticut man was on drugs and nodding off when he lost control of a fully loaded commercial truck and crashed into a car earlier this year, killing a woman and two young children.
New Haven County resident William Kundert, age 42, of Oxford, was arrested and charged with multiple felonies in the Feb. 4 crash in Beacon Falls, Connecticut State Police said.
Riquelme Alves Brito, 3, Laura Alves Brito, 6, and their mother Andreas De Brito-Alves, age 26, of Bridgeport, were killed in the crash, police said.

Man Killed In I-95 Crash After Being Ejected, Falling 30 Feet In Fairfield County, Police Say
A local man was killed during an early-morning single-vehicle crash on I-95 in which he was ejected from a mini-van and fell more than 30 feet in Fairfield County.
Mynor R. Garcia-Pelaez, 38, of Bridgeport, was killed early Sunday, April 5, while traveling on the I-95 northbound near exit 27A ramp, which leads to Route 8 northbound, in the city of Bridgeport, said the Connecticut State Police.
According to police, as the vehicle entered the ramp from I-95 northbound, it struck the concrete barrier on the left side in a head-on manner.

During the unofficial last weekend of summer, Connecticut State Troopers are reminding drivers to be smart, drive safe and be prepared for thousands of other vehicles on the roads.
They're also announcing they will be out in force to check for drunk and drugged drivers, as well as aggressive drivers.

With tens of thousands of travelers driving through Connecticut during the Thanksgiving week, State Police are ramping up their plans to keep highways safe for all during the holiday rush.
Beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 21, just after midnight, and running through Sunday, Nov. 25 at 11:59 p.m., state police will supplement its normal routine patrol personnel with additional Troopers throughout the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
