Michael Skakel Won't Be Retried By State For Martha Moxley Greenwich Murder
Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel will not be retired for the death of Martha Moxley in the Belle Haven section of Greenwich in 1975. In a stunning announcement, Connecticut Chief State’s attorney Richard Colangelo said on Friday, Oct. 30, that he would not retry Skakel because he could not prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt. While speaking before Stamford Superior Court Judge Gary White, Colangelo said a recent review of the case showed that of the 51 potential witnesses, 17 had died. He also said he had reviewed all the evidence and could find nothing new to use in a trial. N…

New Docuseries On Martha Moxley Greenwich Murder Case Debuts
A three-part docuseries on one of the region's most publicized murder cases has debuted this weekend. In the premiere of "Murder and Justice: The Case of Martha Moxley," 7 p.m. Saturday night, June 15 on Oxygen, host and former federal prosecutor Laura Coates meets with the 15-year-old victim's mother, Dorthy Moxley. Moxley was murdered on the front lawn of her Fairfield County home in Greenwich the night of Oct. 30, 1975. Her body was discovered the following morning under a tree, and a golf club, the murder weapon, was found nearby. The investigation remained in limbo for years…

Supreme Court Won't Take Michael Skakel Case
The U.S. Supreme Court announced Monday it will not hear the state of Connecticut's bid to reinstate Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel’s conviction for the murder of Martha Moxley in 1975 in Greenwich. The original 2002 conviction was vacated in May 2018 by the Connecticut Supreme Court who ruled that Skakel, 58, was deprived of his right to effective counsel and was entitled to a new trial on charges he beat Moxley to death with a golf club. The court found Skakel's attorneys failed to investigate a potential alibi witness who could have helped his defense, thus causing the deprivat…

Kennedy Cousin Skakel's Conviction Overturned By Connecticut Supreme Court
in a stunning reversal of its own decision less than two years ago, the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled on Friday to overturn the conviction of Michael Skakel, who was found guilty of bludgeoning Greenwich neighbor Martha Moxley in 1975. Skakel, the nephew of Ethel Kennedy, wife of the late Robert F. Kennedy, had been convicted in 2002 of killing the 15-year-old Moxley, who was beaten to death with a golf club. Skakel successfully appealed his conviction in October 2013 and was released on bail the next month as he awaited a new trial. Three years later, the state Supreme Court revers…

Prosecutors Ask Kennedy Cousin Skakel Be Sent Back To Jail
State prosecutors are asking the Supreme Court to put Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel back behind bars, saying he should not still be free more than a year after the court reinstated his conviction for the murder of Martha Moxley, according to multiple news reports. A state judge set aside Michael Skakel's murder conviction and ordered his retrial in the 1975 death of Moxley, who was a Greenwich teenager. Skakel successfully appealed his conviction in October 2013 and was released on bail the next month as he awaited a new trial. Three years later, the state Supreme Court reversed the …
