Fairfield Resident Kills Self While Police On Scene A resident died by suicide while police were on the scene for a welfare check in Fairfield County. The incident occurred in the town of Fairfield around 3 p.m., Monday, March 4 on Longdean Road. According to Sgt. Michael Stahl of the Fairfield Police, the resident's employer called the police asking for a welfare check when the employee did not show up for work or answer the phone. When officers arrived at the home they found a note indicating that the person could be found in the garage, Stahl said.
