Longtime Stamford Firefighter Walter Lohotsky Dies At 92 Longtime Stamford firefighter Walter Lohotsky died on Sunday, Sept. 23. He was 92. Lohotosky of Stamford was born in New York City and was raised in Banksville, then in Greenwich, said Stamford Fire Capt. Philip Hayes. After serving in World War II, Lohotosky married his wife, Mary and they enjoyed a 62-year marriage. He then joined the Stamford Fire Department on the same day that the Connecticut Turnpike opened in January 1958, Hayes said.  He served for the next 42 years, receiving multiple commendations over the years.
