A person deemed suspicious who was walking on school grounds in Fairfield County led to shelter-in-place orders for two buildings to allow police to investigate. On Thursday, May 19 in Westport, the police department's school security officer, and Staples School resource officer investigated a report of a suspicious person on school grounds. Officer Saves Suicidal Man From Jumping Off Bridge In Fairfield County
A Fairfield County police officer who was on his way to work saved a suicidal man from jumping off a bridge overpass. The incident took place around 6:45 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, as the Westport Police officer was driving through Fairfield on his way to Westport. According to Lieutenant David Wolf, of the Westport Police, Officer Brian Meraviglia encountered a suicidal man who was preparing to jump off the Redding Road overpass onto the Merritt Parkway below. Westport Police Department Welcomes New Officer
The Westport Police Department has sworn in a new policeman, Dominique Carr, bringing its total number of officers to 63.
