Firefighter Hospitalized After Blaze At Car Repair Shop In Fairfield: Building Severely Damaged A stubborn blaze at a car repair shop in Fairfield County left the building with significant damage and resulted in a firefighter being taken to the hospital, fire officials said.  The fire began on Monday, Nov. 20 around 1:30 p.m., when a blaze ignited at Kingsway Motors in Fairfield located at 705 Kings Highway East, according to the Fairfield Fire Department. Crews arrived at the repair shop within minutes and discovered heavy smoke and fire coming from the building. Blaze Breaks Out At Fairfield Fire Department A group of Fairfield County firefighters received the call all dreaded, a blaze at their own station.  The incident took place in the town of Fairfield around 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2 at Station 1 on Reef Road. The crew received the news from Fairfield Fire Marshal, Asst. Fire Chief Phil Higgins as they were returning from a call that he had been alerted to a fire in the kitchen when the heat detectors activated the the building fire alarm. Lightning Leads To Multiple Structure Fires In Fairfield Multiple fires broke out early Thursday night after storms with heavy downpours and lightning swept through the area. The Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting a structure fire at 1300 Mill Hill Road in the Town of Fairfield at 6:38 p.m. Engines 1, 3, 4, 5, Ladder 2, Rescue 1, and Car 3 responded. Engine 4 arrived on scene and reported smoke showing from a large detached garage.  Units used multiple hand lines to battle the blaze.
