Fairfield Resident Kills Self While Police On Scene
A resident died by suicide while police were on the scene for a welfare check in Fairfield County. The incident occurred in the town of Fairfield around 3 p.m., Monday, March 4 on Longdean Road. According to Sgt. Michael Stahl of the Fairfield Police, the resident's employer called the police asking for a welfare check when the employee did not show up for work or answer the phone. A Fairfield County woman has been charged with weapons charges and risk of injury to a child after allegedly firing a gun out a window onto a city street and then barricading herself. The incident began in Bridgeport around 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 9, when police received a report of shots fired. Man Surrenders To Police After Standoff In Norwalk
A 52-year-old man has been apprehended following a standoff with police in Norwalk. Norwalk Police officers responded to Creeping Hemlock Drive for a report of a despondent male at around 10:40 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27. The man, Joseph Sander, made threats to harm another individual within his residence, police said. When officers arrived they observed a female victim on the front steps with Sander standing next to her with a knife. She was able to escape without injury. Man Barricades Himself Inside Bedroom In Fairfield House
A 36-year-old man who was off his medications held police at bay for several hours before surrendering. The incident took place around 1:46 a.m. Tuesday when Fairfield Police Department officers responded to the area of University Drive for a report of an emotionally disturbed man who had gone off of his medication, said Fairfield Police Lt. CT State Police K-9 Officer Will Get Protective Vest
The next time Connecticut State Police canine Porter steps out into the field, he’ll be sporting some of the same protective gear as his human partner. Porter is the happy recipient of a new bullet and stab protective vest, which was donated from Vested Interest in K9s, a not-for-profit organization. The vest was sponsored by a fundraiser hosted by Kim Dance in Harwington and is expected to be ready for the state police dog within eight to 10 weeks.
