CT Man Shot During Carjacking, Police Say
A Connecticut man was shot multiple times during a carjacking.
The New Haven County incident took place in Hamden on Third Street near Dixwell Avenue around 6 a.m., Thursday, July 21.
Officers responding to a report of shots fired, located a victim with gunshot wounds to the lower extremities. The victim, a 46- year-old male from Hamden, was transported by ambulance to the hospital for further medical treatment, said Det. Sean Dolan, of the Hamden Police.
The condition of the victim, who was not identified, is unknown at this time, Dolan said.

Man Nabbed For Stealing, Cashing More Than $4K In Checks, Fairfield Police Say
An area man has been arrested for allegedly stealing and altering five business checks which he cashed.
Jon-Michael Young, age 41, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Friday, Dec. 18, for the theft which took place in May 2019, said Fairfield Police Lt. Tony Granata.
According to Granata, in May 2019, a Fairfield business owner reported to police that five of his business checks have been fraudulently altered and cashed.

Milford Police Officer Charged With Negligent Homicide In Pedestrian Strike
A Milford Police officer has been charged with negligent homicide in connection with the July 20, 2018, death of a 50-year-old pedestrian who was hit and killed by the officer.
Courtney Bothwell, 28, of North Haven, was charged Wednesday, Jan. 2, by Hamden Police following an investigation into the crash on Dixwell Avenue, in the vicinity of Old Dixwell Avenue, said Hamden Capt. Ronald Smith.
According to Smith, the investigation revealed that Kristin Wilczynski, 50, of North Haven was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by a motor vehicle that was driven by Bothwell.

Police are asking for help identifying the man who attacked a customer at an area gas station with an ax, said the Hamden Police Department.
The incident took place around 4:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 9, at the Gulf Gas Station, at 1624 Dixwell Ave., said the Hamden Police.
According to police, an investigation revealed that the victim, a 50-year-old Hamden resident, was involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified customer.
The customer “became very upset” when the victim was backing his motor vehicle near the gas pumps, police said.
