Some 21 people were left displaced following a large fire at a senior housing facility in Fairfield County where several residents were rescued from the second floor with ladders and others down staircases. A $20 million high-rise apartment building was saved from being destroyed in Fairfield County by quick-working firefighters. The fire, at the Alto Fairfield Metro Complex on Kings Highway, in Fairfield, began around 9:47 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, the Fairfield Fire Department said. Fighterfightes received word that the fire started on the roof-top deck and arrived on the scene within four minutes, the department said.
