CT Summer Camp Intern Sexually Assaults Multiple Children, Police Say
A 24-year-old babysitter and summer camp employee was arrested following a sexual assault investigation that spanned over a year and a half.
The New Haven County man, Anthony Mastrangelo, was arrested on Tuesday, June 25 for his alleged crimes in the town of Bethany.
According to the Connecticut State Police, Mastrangelo worked as a babysitter, an after-school helper, and an intern for Bethany Parks and Recreation summer camp, where the alleged assault began in December 2022.

After a months-long investigation, a Fairfield County man has been arrested for an alleged dangerous daytime shooting that put dozens of residents in jeopardy.
Kenneth Jeffries, age 25, of Norwalk, was arrested Friday, Dec. 10, for the Tuesday, Sept. 7 stalking shooting on Summer Street in Stamford.
According to Capt. Richard Conklin, of the Stamford Police, Jeffries fired five gunshots at two men walking in the parking lot at 920 Summer St. around 3:30 p.m.

Nearly 10,000 residents in Connecticut are still without power more than 24 hours after Tropical Depression Ida made its way through the region.
As of 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 2, 8,721 of Eversource’s 1.286 million Connecticut customers were still reporting outages, while United Illuminated was still working to repair 127 active outages that were impacting 509 of the company’s customers.

Area Attorney Admits To Federal Tax Charges
An attorney in the area has admitted to failing to pay more than $225,000 in taxes.
Bethany resident William Palmieri, 56, pleaded guilty in Bridgeport district court to two counts of willful failure to pay income taxes, U.S. Attorney for Connecticut John Durham announced.
Palmieri, an attorney with a practice specializing in civil rights law, reported to the Internal Revenue Service, but did not pay, all the income taxes he owed, between 2006 and 2014, even though he had the ability to make substantially greater tax payments during that time, Durham said.

Danbury Man Killed After Becoming Trapped Under Debris In Partial Barn Collapse
A Danbury man was killed after being trapped under debris during a partial barn collapse, said the Connecticut State Police.
The incident took place around 8:40 a.m., Thursday, April 24, when a barn that was being worked on began to collapse, with workers inside at 81 Litchfield Turnpike in Bethany, said the state police.
When state troopers arrived on the scene they found Joister Pacheco-Attaide, 38, Danbury, trapped under the debris, state police said.

State Police Release DUI Patrol Info, Checkpoint Locations For Thanksgiving Week Details
With tens of thousands of travelers driving through Connecticut during the Thanksgiving week, State Police are ramping up their plans to keep highways safe for all during the holiday rush.
Beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 21, just after midnight, and running through Sunday, Nov. 25 at 11:59 p.m., state police will supplement its normal routine patrol personnel with additional Troopers throughout the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
