Stop & Shop Will No Longer Sell Tobacco Products
Stop & Shop, the supermarket chain with 360 stores throughout the Northeast, said its locations will stop carrying tobacco products at the end of the month. The chain announced the move on Monday, Aug. 26, after it partnered with the American American Cancer Society to improve community health, Stop & Shop CEO Gordon Reid said in a statement. Anne M. McDermott, 78, passed away February 15, 2023. Anne was born May 25, 1944 in Port Chester and was an alumna of Port Chester High School. She lived most of her life in Larchmont with short residencies in Harrison, Pelham, and Stamford, CT. She tried the “snowbird” life for a while before moving to Glendale, AZ for a few years. Darien's William Jerome Bellis, 92, Will Be Remembered As Good-Natured, Loyal, Dependable
William Jerome Bellis (Bill), of Darien, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023, at the age of 92 surrounded by his family. He bravely fought lung cancer for over a year. Bill was born on May 12, 1930, in New York, NY to the late William Bellis and Anne Gallagher Bellis. His parents were immigrants from Liverpool, England, and Donegal, Ireland, respectively. Bill graduated from Blessed Sacrament High School, in New Rochelle, where he played on the basketball and baseball teams. He went on to earn a BA in History from Iona College in 1953. A Stamford attorney from Bethel who served as an assistant U.S. Attorney in New York during his career has died. John W. Timbers died at home on Thursday, May 23. He was 76. Timbers was born in Brooklyn in 1942 to Charlotte T. Timbers and the Hon. William H. Timbers who later served as a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
