New Fairfield Man Caught Drunk Driving After Almost Hitting Pole: Police Several people were nabbed on drunk driving charges in the Hudson Valley over the holiday weekend, including a Westchester woman rescued from a rolled-over car and a taxi driver, police said. The arrests were announced by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, Oct. 17, and were all made over Columbus Day weekend.  The first incident happened on Friday, Oct. 11 in Putnam Valley, when a car crashed and flipped on Church Road in the area of Kramers Pond Road.  Arriving sheriff's deputies found a vehicle on its side with downed live wires nearby. Drunk Driver From Fairfield County Crashes In Construction Zone, Police Say A Fairfield County man was arrested for alleged DWI after crashing into the back of a construction vehicle in a work zone in Westchester.  Fabian Madera, age 43, of Shelton, was arrested around 10:20 p.m., Tuesday, March 23, after New York State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-95 in Mamaroneck, said Trooper Tara McCormick. A preliminary investigation revealed that Madera was driving a Toyota Camry northbound, approaching a lane closure in a work zone when he rear-ended a construction vehicle blocking the right lane, McCormick said. Intoxicated Man Rescued From Boat On Long Island Sound By Police Marine Unit A man who had allegedly had too much to drink was rescued from a boat on Long Island Sound. The incident took place off the north coast of Long Island around 10:27 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, in Oyster Bay. According to Nassau County Police, the department's boat Marine 6 and Helicopter 4 received a call for a medical emergency in the Long Island Sound approximately one mile north of Lloyd Harbor. Upon arrival, units discovered a man on a boat in and out of consciousness, apparently due to severe intoxication, police said. Woman, 45, Charged After Incident Involving Intoxicated Teen In Darien, Police Say A 45-year-old woman is facing charges after her involvement in an incident with an intoxicated teen, according to police. Darien Police say they responded to a Gardiner Street residence Sunday, May 12 around 1 a.m. on the report of an extremely intoxicated 16-year-old female who was allegedly unconscious. The teen was transported to the hospital for evaluation. The teen’s mother allegedly told officers that she had been dropped off at the residence by the parent of her daughter’s friend, identified as Amanda Smith, 45, of Darien. Darien Man Arrested Twice Over Weekend DARIEN, Conn. -- A Darien man was arrested twice this weekend after police said he was first involved in a domestic incident and then later violated the conditions of his release. Officers were dispatched to a home in Darien shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday on a report of an assault in progress.
