Westchester Express Hockey Team Wins Title

The Westchester Express Mite Major hockey team swept four games to win the Mite Meltdown Championship in Utica on Sunday.

The team, which is made up of 8-year-old boys from Harrison, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Pleasantville, White Plains and Greenwich, Conn., punctuated the title with a 7-2 win over the Syracuse Nationals. The six-team tournament was held over three days.

An Express player was awarded a most valuable player for each game. Mike Emerson had a hat trick and two assists to earn game one MVP. Jake Bongo was the MVP of the second game with a hat trick and one assist. In game three, Dante Palombo netted two goals and assisted on two others and was named MVP. Goalie Ian Trumm was the MVP of the title game.
