Started in 2008 by Greenwich-based Kids In Crisis, the triathlon has become one of the biggest sporting events of the year in Fairfield County. It has routinely attracted some of the top triathletes in the country in recent years.
Chris Thomas of Easton won last year's KIC IT Triathlon, setting a new course record.
The Stamford KIC IT Triathlon was created to support the services offered by Kids in Crisis.
Kids in Crisis is Connecticut’s only free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, crisis counseling and community educational programs for children of all ages and families dealing with a wide range of crises – domestic violence, mental health and family problems, substance abuse, economic difficulties and more, according to its website.
At the party, race director Jon Stellwagen will discuss what changes can be expected on race day. A special demonstration of Greenwich Bikes' new GURU Dynamic Fit Unit will also take place, and guests will have the opportunity to win a $350 bike fit. Refreshments will be served.
Greenwich Bikes will be donating 10 percent of all accessory purchases made during the evening to Kids in Crisis.
