Greenwich Rugby Mauls Fairfield, 50-0

GREENWICH, Conn. - Seven different Greenwich players scored tries Saturday as the Cardinal rugby team rolled past Fairfield, 50-0. What was expected to be a much closer game quickly became a blowout as the technically sound Cardinals proved to be too much for Fairfield.

Scott Atkinson got the blowout underway, scoring the game's first try just 4:22 into the game. Greenwich moved the ball at will, dominating scrums and commanding turnovers as a well. Greenwich closed out the half by scoring three tries in less than four minutes, outrunning an exhausted-looking Fairfield squad at every turn.

Grant Cucchisi also scored a pair of tries for Greenwich. Mateo Gowland, Tomas Gowland and Joey Marzulla rounded out the Cardinal scoring.

Greenwich will close out its regular season at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairfield Prep.
