Greenwich Girls Help Skyliners Take 4th in France

GREENWICH, Conn. – Girls from Greenwich and Cos Cob shared in the Skyliners Synchronized Skating Junior team's achievement this past weekend as it finished fourth in the prestigious French Cup in Rouen, France.

The team included Cos Cob's Brooke Abbott and Mairead Brock and Greenwich’s Alexandra Scarpulla. The Skyliners were the top U.S. team in the 13-team competition with a score of 138.72. Teams from Finland swept the top three medal positions.

The Skyliners were fourth in the short program with 42.76 points and fourth in the free skating segment with of 92.3. They were less than seven points from the third place team and more than eight from the fifth-place finisher. The only other U.S. entry, Team Braemar of Minnesota, finished sixth.

The Skyliners will compete in the International Skating Union Synchronized Skating Junior World Challenge Cup next month and the World Synchronized Skating Championships in April. Both events will be held in Goteborg, Sweden.
