Greenwich Girls Aim To Return to Finals

The Greenwich High School varsity girls lacrosse team got oh-so-close last season to its first state championship since 2005. The Cardinals ultimately fell in a 10-9 heartbreaker to New Canaan in the Division I state finals.

With the new three-division format in Connecticut girls lacrosse, Greenwich will not have to face New Canaan, Darien or Wilton in the state tournament this season. But the finalists of the Division II tournament, Staples and Fairfield Ludlowe, will both enter Greenwich's Class L. In the video, head coach Cailtlin Keane discusses the pros and cons of that prospect and how her team's solid chemistry could lead to an even more successful year.

Greenwich opens its 2011 season at home Thursday, April 7, against Mahopac, N.Y., at 4 p.m.
