GREENWICH, Conn. Greenwich High senior Abby Markowitz finished fourth and the Cardinals finished sixth in team scoring at Saturdays Class LL cross country championships at Wickham Park in Manchester.
Markowitz, the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference champion, ran 19:51 on the 5-kilomer course, an average of 6:24 per mile. Glastonburys Reid Watson won the race in 19:03.
Ridgefield won the team title with 83 points. Greenwich compiled 183 points. Sarah Fountain (17th), Jennifer Goggin (19th), Elizabeth Markowitz (67) and Kathryn Bernstein (76) rounded out Greenwichs scoring.
Mark Jarombek finished 77th to lead Greenwichs boys. Complete results are available on www.casciac.org. The top runners will compete in the State Open Friday at Wickham Park.
