James Piotrzkowski was stellar in net for the Greenwich Blues bantam team and four Blues scored as Greenwich took down the Stamford Sharks, 4-0, at Dorothy Hamill Rink on Saturday night in Connecticut Hockey Conference action. Piotrzkowski racked up 22 saves.
After a quiet first period, the Blues exploded on offense in the second frame. Eryk Wilgos snuck one by Stamford's goalie off a good pass from Peter Johnson at the 14 minute mark. The Blues netted two goals in a minute-and-a-half with Kevin Piotrzkowski finding the net and Anthony Marciano firing a slap shot past the Stamford goalie. Greenwich added a backbreaker with seven seconds to play in the second period when Brian Silard jammed the puck in after a scrum in front of the net.
Stamford played strong in the third period, getting half of their 22 shots on net in the final frame. Jamie Rich, Griffin Northrop, and Matt Carlson all played well for the Sharks, but Piotrzkowski gobbled up all their chances on goal.
With the shutout victory, the Blues improved to 3-0 on the season.
