FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. Runners from Fairfield County ran off with the top hardware overall and in age groups at Sundays Minute Man 5K and 10K races in Westport.
Norwalks Noredeine Abdelfatah won the mens 10K, and Stamfords Sharon Lemberger captured honors in the womens division. Emily Lasala of Bridgeport was women's champion and Tim Milenkevich of Ansonia was the mens winner in the 5K.
Other age group winners from nearby Fairfield County communities in the 5K included Andi Rosenblatt of Weston, womens 14-and-under, and Sharon Vos of Old Greenwich in the the 50-59 age division.
Other runners who finished in the top three in their age group included Stamfords Jonathan Hash, third in the 19-29 age group of the mens 5K; Dariens Timothy Van Hooser, first in the mens 30-39 division of the 5K; Stamfords Ashish Bhandari, third in the mens 30-39 division of the 5K; Old Greenwichs Louis Csak, first in the 40-49 age group of the 5K; Mats Anderson of Weston, second in the 60-69 division of the 5K; and John Gibbons, also of Old Greenwich, first in the mens 70-and-up 5K.
Westons Kathleen Murphy took third in the 14-and-under division of the womens 5K. Heather Nelson and Jessica Bower of Weston finished 2-3 in the womens 30-39 division, and Stamfords Eva Heidi Nord-Varh was third in the 50-59 division.
Christa Struk of Darien finished third in the 30-39 age division of the womens 10K. In the mens 10K, Greg Giustino of Stamford (third, 19-29) and Westons Georgian Marcu (third, 30-39) took home trophies.
