Brunswick Falls to Greens Farms

Greens Farms Academy had never beaten Brunswick in boys basketball before this season. Now, the Dragons have done it twice in a month. Saturday's 36-33 victory was ugly from start to finish, but GFA survived to improve to 4-3. Sean Obi scored 18 points and grabbed 24 rebounds to lead the Dragons.

"We had a lot of opportunities," Brunswick's Billy Murphy said. "You're going to off-shooting nights. That shouldn't be an excuse for losing."

Donqutae Robinson scored 11 points to pace the Bruins, while Alex Gatinella added nine. Murphy scored six as the Bruins built leads in each half only to see them dissipate.

"Our game plan was to pack it in on Obi, and we did a pretty good job on defense," Murphy said. "We could have played a little better defense at the end."

Both teams struggled to score from the perimeter. Brunswick built a 16-5 first-half lead before the Dragons went on a 12-0 run in the final 4:44 to take a 17-16 lead at halftime.

With Obi out for several minutes early in the second half, Brunswick took advantage. The Bruins led by six on several occasions, including a 30-24 advantage after Robinson scored with 7:02 to play.

GFA went on a 9-0 run to take the lead for good, however, and Brunswick had just one field goal in the final seven minutes. Brunswick's chance to send the game into overtime went awry when Nick Kono's 3-pointer with time winding down was off the mark.

Brunswick was also hurt at the foul line, where it went just three-for-10. The Bruins return to action Monday at Masters.
