Balin Misses Cut at PGA Championship

Danny Balin's first experience in a PGA major may not have been his best performance, but he is sure to remember it for the rest of his life. Balin, the junior golf instructor at Burning Tree Country Club, finished plus-8 after two rounds failing to make the cut in the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin.

Though Balin crossed paths with some of the game's biggest names, it was the weather that seemed to play the biggest factor in his game.

Dense fog delayed the start of the tournament, forcing Balin to begin his first round at 5:05 p.m. Thursday. He got in only nine holes before play was suspended because of darkness. Weather continued to wreak havoc on the tournament, delaying the second round by nearly two hours. Balin was forced to play 27 holes in one day, which probably hurt his performance.

Balin wrote about his experiences in his first major championship in his blog. It is featured on the PGA website.
