Members of the Whitby School Parents Association earlier this week were eyeing their progress toward the thank you prize of $500 from Main Street Connect's Better Schools Bonanza promotion after getting at least 100 people to register on TheDailyGreenwich.com website. By Tuesday, the school had reached its goal.
"We as a PA will be donating the check to the Whitby Annual Fund, to be allocated to the Scholarship Fund, to provide the best education to as many children in our community as possible," said Monica Green, president of the Parents Association. She accepted the "big check" with Head of School Doug Fainelli from Main Street Connect's President John Falcone.
Whitby School, America's Oldest Montessori School, is the first Greenwich School to receive a $500 thank you in the Better Schools Bonanza promotion. During the contest, people can vote for their favorite school until 11:59 p.m. Nov. 15. The school to get the most votes will win a $10,000 prize. The second place winner will get $5,000.
