Turkey Is Served Up Early At GA

Thanksgiving came early for students at Greenwich Academy. Students in Group II (the second grade) hosted the school's annual Thanksgiving event Thursday, Nov. 18, a celebration filled with songs, videos and, of course, turkey and mashed potatoes. Shaelah Johnson, Grace Soloman and Anna Wright were very proud to host event.

"This was a perfect melding of Native Americans and learning about the Pilgrims," said Group II teacher Fay Venetsanos. "We talked to the students about some of the myths about Thanksgiving and parts that are common culture."

The girls prepared a song about the Pilgrims and were accompanied by an intern teacher, Raina Crawford. With the help of teachers Venetsanos and Paige Morley, the students created two videos to share with their guests in Young Assembly Hall. "We used a book that had a Native American prayer in it for the video," said Morley. "They are so proud of themselves."
