More than 180 young chess enthusiasts flocked to Greenwich Academy for the National Scholastic Chess Foundation's January competition. A total of 51 schools from Fairfield County and Westchester County, N.Y., participated on Jan. 23. The foundation awarded 65 trophies and 46 medals in six categories to players from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Teams from Greenwich Academy placed third in the elementary and K-1 sections and fourth in the primary section.
