School Year Begins With a Hug

Students carrying brightly colored backpacks filled with new school supplies greeted Glenville School Principal Marc D'Amico Tuesday. Incoming second grader Dalton Hirsch was especially looking forward to art class, his favorite.

Among all the smiling faces there was no sign of back-to-school jitters. "We have settled into our new building and are excited for a very successful school year," said D'Amico. "The school is well above its projected enrollment, which is a great thing. There are a number of new families who have moved into the area, and we look forward to welcoming them."

A fun and educational addition this year is the LCD display hanging in the main entrance. "The display will work with the new photovoltaic system and students will be able to learn how it works," said D'Amico. The solar panels were installed earlier in the summer to reduce the amount of energy the building consumes.
